Shahdeniz consortium to determine pipeline to transport Azeri gas to Europe recently

Commenting on signing of documents on TANAP (Trans-Anatolia Gas Pipeline) Abdullayev noted that, Azerbaijan and Turkey would realize this project jointly: â€œTANAP is an significant project for gas delivery to and ensuring of energy safety of Turkey. At the same time, this project is a contribution to European energy safetyâ€.

Final decision on delivery of gas to European countries will be passed at the end of 2013 and Shahdeniz consortium will choose the pipeline to transport Azeri gas to European countries (either Nabucco West or South East European Pipeline): â€œDuring the passing process of the final decision, the variant to be chosen and TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) will be reviewed in equal rightsâ€.

Abdullayev also noted that, SOCAR took steps on implementation of technical and economic researches of pipeline: â€œWeâ€™ll do our best with our Turkish counterparts that TANAP project to be implemented until natural gas extraction within Shahdeniz II fieldâ€.

Note that, on June 26, an signing ceremony of documents on TANAP project was held in Istanbul with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
