The diameter of the pipeline has been considered at 56 inches or 1.4 meters. Chief of SOCAR’s investment department Vagif Aliyev told APA that such selection of pipe’s measures will allow increase its capacity in future: ‘Therefore, in future, increase of pipe’s capacity will be realized by means of addition of power and number of compressor stations’.

That is, the project will be implemented in 4 stages. The first stage will be completed in 2018. Its capacity of the pipeline will be hit 16 bn cbm in 2020; 23 bn cbm in 2020; 31 bn cbm in 2026.

Note that, during the first period, 10 bn cbm of Azeri gas will be sold to Europe, 6 bn cbm – to Turkey. The gas, considered for Europe, will be handed over on Turkish-Bulgarian or Turkish-Greek border. Turkish PM Rajap Tayyip Erdogan noted that the volume of gas to be delivered to Turkey would be increased depending on country’s need.

As a result of the TANAP’s realization, the volume of SOCAR’s investments in Turkey will reach $17 bn. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said that at the end of the realization of TANAP, SOCAR will be the only company, which invested the most investment in Turkey.

At present, preparation works began in connection with the realization and economic feasibility is under development. Financing sources and financial institutions are planned to determine at the next stage. Launching of TANAP has been coordinated with start of Shah Deniz II project. The launch has been considered for 2017.

Aliyev noted that shareholders of Nabucco project have approved new West Nabucco variant, which considers shortening of their projects. Currently, Nabucco shareholders discuss how to coordinate the capacity of this project with TANAP.
