Next phase of South Corridor to start in 2025

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The next phase of the South Corridor can be started in 2025, Adviser to SOCAR President Murad Heydarov said at the CIC Caspian Oil-Gas Conference, APA reports.

To him, there will occur need for new supply routes and lines for the start of the new phase.

Heydarov noted that at present, 2 variants were under consideration on delivery of Azeri gas, which will be produced within the second stage of the Shah Deniz, to Europe. One of them – use of gas infrastructure of Turkish BOTAS company, and the second – construction of a new pipeline; ‘If the pipe is constructed and then extended, then the Central Asian countries can use it, too’.

Note that, South Corridor include ITGI, TAP, Nabucco projects the main source of TAP project is the gas to be produced within the framework of Shah Deniz II. According to forecasts, the production will start in 2016. The construction of TAP pipeline will last 3 years, the construction will begin in 213. During the initial stage, nearly 10 bn cbm of gas will be delivered to Europe through this pipeline. This figure will be raised up to 20 bn cbm in future.
