Baku High Oil School and British Heriot Watt University sign contract

Baku â€“ APA-Economics. President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev has received the delegation led by Rector of British Heriot Watt University, Professor Steve Chapman

According to APA-Economics, establishment of relations and perspectives between these Baku High Oil School and Heriot Watt University were discussed at the meeting.

Abdullayev spoke about Presidentâ€™s order dated to 29.11.2011 on establishment of Baku High Oil School under the SOCAR and noted that the need for specialists would be increased year-by-year. He says that, it needs high-specialized staffs in both domestic and foreign projects that are implemented by SOCAR. He noted that, he hoped that this relationship with Heriot-Watt University would allow application of new technologies in Azerbaijan.

S. Chapman noted that, cooperation with Baku High Oil School would have effective results.

After meeting, signing ceremony of contract on main principles of organization of personnel training between Baku High Oil School and Heriot Watt University was held. The contract was signed by Rector of Baku High Oil School Elmar Gasimov and Rector of Heriot Watt University Steve Chapman and Dean Philip John. The contract aims to organize training in Baku High Oil School on the basis of Heriot Watt Universityâ€™s Oil engineering and Chemistry engineering professions, as well train scientific-pedagogical staffs at bachelorâ€™s, masterâ€™s and doctorâ€™s degrees. According to terms of the contract, BHOS must obtain all consents for organization of its activity, establish important infrastructure for high-level education and form personnel potential. Heriot Watt University must present all education programs on relevant professions to BHOS, assist to establish methodical and material-technical base and control organization of education and assessment of its results. According to contract, on the basis of training process in 2012-2017, the graduates of BHOS will get diplomas of both Universities.

Abdullayev noted as answer to the question â€œWhat differ will be between BHOS and Azerbaijan State Oil Academy?â€ that, BHOS was established to give high-specialised personnel for SOCAR: â€œSOVAR already implements large projects in the world. We need high-level Azerbaijani specialists with English languageâ€
