Azerbaijan to construct gas pipeline in Georgia

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Complex of enterprises “Neftgaztikinti” of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) won the tender for construction of 29-km part of Abasha-Senaki gas pipeline declared in January, 2012 by the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

APA-Economics was told at SOCAR that the gas pipeline will pass through the Nogela and Tekhura riverheads, main channel and highway passages. Three bolt joints will be constructed on the pipeline. The project also considers electro-chemical protection of the pipeline.

The complex of enterprises “Neftgaztikinti” has been working in Georgia since 2006 and was involved in the projects of construction of oil and gas pipelines and other hydro-technical installations, as well as infrastructure projects. The company constructed medium pressure gas pipelines in Algeti, Tezekend and Didi Muganlo villages, Dusheti town and nearby areas in Georgia’s Marneuli region in 2011 by the order of SOCAR Georgia Gas. It is implementing the gas supply project in Keshalo village of Georgia’s Marneuli region densely populated by Azerbaijanis.
