Author of project “Thousand houses” is the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources.

Deputy director of the Agency Jamil Malikov told APA that the project has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and currently, the document is under discussion: “We have received very positive opinions in connection with it”.

According to the project, state budget will allocate long-term loans to low-income families. At the expense of these loans, solar panels will be set up at their houses. The panels will meet their demand for electricity and hot water. The rest of the energy will be sold to common electricity networks. So, the families will have a chance to get additional income. “The main purpose is that these families will not spend money for energy. Instead, they will be able to earn money from energy sell. Consequently, they can repay the loans and have extra income”.

The project is considered to start this year. Some issues on the project, as well as tariff of the energy, amount of the loan have not been determined yet.

According to preliminary calculations, installation of solar panels for one house needs AZN 8,000. This program has been considered for 20 years.

Malikov said that at present time, some residential areas are viewed for application of the project. First of all, Gobustan may be available for this purpose. Because necessary infrastructure for it has already been created here.
