Transit of Turkmen oil through Azerbaijan increases by 41%

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. In January, 2012, 4 mln tons of oil were transported via main pipelines in Azerbaijan, down 2.4% from year earlier.

State Statistical Committee says, 77.1% of transportation was implemented via Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan and volume of the oil made 3.1 mln tons, equal to previous year’s index.

318,200 tons of Turkmen oil was transported via BTJ during the same period, up 41.4% from year earlier.

At the same time, 2.1 bcm of gas was transported via main gas pipelines, up 19.3% from a year ago. ¼ part of transported gas was implemented via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline and 434.7 mln cm of gas was transported via this pipeline, up 29.2% from January, 2011.
