# 26 December 2011 10:09 (UTC +04:00)
Construction of this pipeline was considered in the gas contracts signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey, on October 25: “Today’s document, signed by Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tanel Yildiz, will involve completion of works on construction of pipeline, as well determination of companies for establishment of joint consortium by Turkey and Azerbaijan”.

Initial participants of consortium will be State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Turkish BOTAS pipeline Company. Afterwards, other international and foreign companies may joint this project.

Remind that, TransAnadolu (Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline) is a planned crude oil pipeline in Turkey from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean oil terminal in Ceyhan. The aim of this project is to provide an alternative route for Russia’s and Kazakhstan’s oil and to ease the traffic burden in the Bosporus and the Dardanelles.
