Efforts for democratic development in Azerbaijan will be ramped up, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during his inauguration ceremony on April 18, APA reports.
“We will ramp up of efforts for democratic development, and this direction will occupy an important place in our future activity,” said the head of state.
The president pointed out that Azerbaijan has been successfully developing in the last 15 years.
"The Azerbaijani people have demonstrated unity and solidarity. Our national ideology plays a key role in our future activities. The ideology of Azerbaijanism is fully established in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani people are unanimous about a single national idea and our country is developing very successfully,” he added.
The head of state noted that inter-religious and interethnic relations are exemplary in Azerbaijan.
“Representatives of all religions and nations in Azerbaijan live and will continue to live in a friendly atmosphere, like a family. Our policy and the desires of society will also necessitate the steps to be taken in this direction. Azerbaijan has achieved great success in regulating inter-religious and inter-state relations across the country. We have shown this to the world over the last 15 years. Not just because we want to show off, but because we want positive trends to prevail in the whole world. Unfortunately, there have been very dangerous processes in this direction in the world in the last 15 years. Islamophobia, xenophobia, discrimination have turned into a state policy in some countries. Negative attitude are shown towards people of other religions and nations. That's why we have tried and will continue to try to set our example and prove that multiculturalism lives and should live. At the same time, we are committed to our national and spiritual values. It is no coincidence that the years 2016 and 2017 were declared as the years of multiculturalism and Islamic solidarity in Azerbaijan,” he added.
