This was my first visit to Armenia as Secretary General of the Council of Europe. I visited Armenia as I could find some spare time in my schedule,” asked by APA correspondent why he visited Armenia and Georgia but not Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis replied at the press conference along with new chairman of CE Committee of Ministers Jan Kubish.
Terry Davis said that he visited Georgia at the invitation of President Mikhail Saakashvili.
“I attended the summit on Eastern Europe in Tbilisi. We spoke about the “frozen conflicts” in the framework of the summit. The recent happenings in Georgia started a little before my visit. I could concern myself with the problem and exchange views with the sides. I have not received an official invitation from Azerbaijan. If I receive an invitation, I will accept it with great pleasure. I have been to Azerbaijan several times and was always pleased with these visits,” he said. /APA/
