APA reports that the event is organized by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Youth Forum and supported by ISESCO, Council of Europe, UN Development Program, Azerbaijani Youth and Sport Ministry.
Film about the initiative of Spanish and Turkish Prime Ministers on cross-civilization dialogue was displayed at the beginning of the conference.
Following this, Ali Hasanov, chief of President’s office socio-political department read Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s congratulation letter. Calling the youth a great power, the president underlined that realities require more agile activities from the youth.
Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Huseyn Avni Garsioglu read Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s congratulation letter.
MP Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the UNESCO and ISESCO Good Will Ambassador addressing the conference said that cooperation among civilizations is an efficient initiative taken at opportune time. Mrs. Aliyeva thinks that the mankind will either go for interreligious and intercultural dialogue, or be dragged into intolerance, tyranny and tension.
“Problems like terrorism, global warming and AIDS can not be solved on the initiative of a country. All this needs global cooperation,” she said.
Mehriban Aliyeva underlined the importance of establishing global cross-civilization
youth organization and called the youth to unite against intolerance and extremism.
First lady of Qatar, director of Qatar Foundation Sheikha Moza bint Nasir al-Misnad addressing the youth said, “You should work harder than we expect”.
“Unfortunately, our generation lost confidence. Our heritage is useless. I call on the youth to work along with the world leaders and unite distant worlds,” she said. /APA/
