PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan to be appointed, November 6

Andres Herkel, co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan told APA exclusively that the issue on appointing the new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan has also been included into the agenda of the November 6th meeting. The co-rapporteur considers that any member of the committee, who is not a rapporteur, can be appointed to the post.
â€œI suppose the new co-rapporteur will be the parliamentarian from socialist group, as I represent conservatives. Parity is always observed when rapporteurs are appointed,â€ he said.
Andres Herkel said that decision on visiting Azerbaijan is also expected to be made at the meeting.
The co-rapporteur said he will express his position in the debates on â€œFrozen conflictsâ€.
PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Tony Lloyd refused to be co-rapporteur in the fall session in October, since he had a lot to do in his country as a parliamentarian. /APA/
