Andres Herkel, co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan told APA exclusively that the issue on appointing the new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan has also been included into the agenda of the November 6th meeting. The co-rapporteur considers that any member of the committee, who is not a rapporteur, can be appointed to the post.
“I suppose the new co-rapporteur will be the parliamentarian from socialist group, as I represent conservatives. Parity is always observed when rapporteurs are appointed,” he said.
Andres Herkel said that decision on visiting Azerbaijan is also expected to be made at the meeting.
The co-rapporteur said he will express his position in the debates on “Frozen conflicts”.
PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Tony Lloyd refused to be co-rapporteur in the fall session in October, since he had a lot to do in his country as a parliamentarian. /APA/
