Urmas Paet: Azerbaijan is an attractive country for Estonian investors
- Relations between Estonia and Azerbaijan are good, but ties between our nations could be stronger. During the visit, we would like to expand our treaty base and sign the Convention between Estonia and Azerbaijan for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion.
- Are you going to discuss during your visit to Baku the process of opening the embassies in Azerbaijan and Estonia? How soon are they going to be opened?
- The developing of our foreign representations is depending on our resources. At the moment, our ambassador to Azerbaijan resides in Turkey.
- Is Estonia interested in Azeri energy resources? Are there any exact projects which you are going to discuss? Are you interested in joining the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk project?
-The EU is supporting new pipeline routes from the shores of the Caspian Sea to Europe. Completing the construction of Odessa-Brody-Plock-Gdansk oil pipeline that would allow supplying oil to the Baltic Sea region and it would be an important step forward. Estonia can only benefit from diversified energy supply and benefits from getting access to an even bigger market.
- There is still no direct flight from Tallinn to Baku. When is it going to be opened and which company will be doing it?
- Hopefully, as economic relations between the two countries tighten, we can also experience better connectivity between Estonia and Azerbaijan.
- What is the trade over between Azerbaijan and Estonia? Which products can increase it?
- Machinery, metallurgical products and construction materials are the main articles that Estonia exports to Azerbaijan and we import mostly food and chemistry products. We see more cooperation in the field of services and infotechnology.
- Estonian companies wanted to invest constructing tourism zones in Azerbaijan. Are these projects still on agenda? Are there any other investment projects between Azerbaijan and Estonia?
- The large business delegation accompanying me on my visit to Azerbaijan is a proof, that Azerbaijan is an attractive country for our investors. I hope the contacts made by our entrepreneurs will enhance trade relations between Estonia and Azerbaijan remarkably and new investment projects will be launched. /APA/
