Master at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Bakhtiyar Hajiyev told APA that Srgjan Kerim made a speech on “Globalization and people’s sovereignty” while meeting with the teachers and students of Kennedy Management School and Harvard Business School. Following the meeting, U.N. General Assembly President answered the questions of students and professors about the U.N. activity and priority issues in the 62nd session.
Commenting on Azerbaijani student’s question about Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan’s regarding Kosovo conflict as a precedent for Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the opening of the 62nd session of U.N. General Assembly, Srgjan Kerim said:
“U.N. General Assembly will not take any step that will question the territorial integrity of the member states. Our position is that both Nagorno Karabakh conflict and other conflicts in GUAM differ from one another and they can never be identified. We believe that this conflict will be solved peacefully within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani side should provide conditions for Armenian minority to live peacefully along with other ethnic minorities,” he said.
U.N. General Assembly President said that the talks on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should continue.
“This conflict should be solved between the two countries. Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents should continue talks and reach a consensus. The role of the UN or other international organizations is to mediate in the talks, accelerate the process of negotiations and give impetus to their continuation,” he said. /APA/
