Deputy director of NATO Information Center in Georgia: Unlike some national minorities Georgian Azerbaijanis are not under the influence of Russia

“Inclination to NATO among the Azerbaijanis is higher compared with the other nations. Unlike some national minorities Azerbaijanis living here are not under the influence of Russia,” she said.
The deputy director said that 80% of Georgia’s population supports the country’s membership to NATO. But the majority of the population is not informed about NATO.
“Branches of the Information Center opened in three regions to remove this problem. Branches are planned to be opened in Marneuli and Dmanisi regions where Azerbaijanis are living densely,” he said.
Mshvadovadze said that Georgia has already started stage of intensive dialogue with NATO.
Several reforms were carried out in political and military sector due to integration into NATO.
Mshvadovadze stating that conflicts in Georgia will not influence on the country’s becoming member of NATO regards that Nagorno Karabakh conflict will not impede Azerbaijan’s integration into Euro-Atlantic.
NATO Information Center in Georgia was established in 2005. Georgian Defense Ministry finances the Center and several projects financed by NATO and other organizations are being implemented. Seminars on Euro-Atlantic partnership policy for the students of faculty of international affairs of Georgian State University, relations with NATO and other themes are held in the center. /APA/
