4th South Caucasus Conference on media self-regulation starts in Tbilisi

APA’s correspondent attending the conference reports that media representatives from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, France, Russia and Bulgaria and experts participate in the conference. OSCE representative on freedom of the media spoke about the importance of adopting ethics guidelines of the media and advised to benefit from practice of the world countries. Managing Director of Bulgarian Media Development Centre spoke about the shared benefits of media self-regulation and compared the state of media in the South Caucasus and European countries.
Yavuz Baydar, Ombudsman Sabah daily of Turkey said that five newspapers and one magazine have ombudsmen in his country.
“One of them is a woman,” he said.
An Armenian journalist asked Baydar’s position on Hrant Dink’s murder. Mentioning Turkey’s severe reaction on the case Baydar underlined that journalists expressed solidarity. /APA/
