“I do not see any obstacles in the way of the negotiations. The parties are negotiating voluntarily and I am sure that we will achieve an agreement,” he said.
In accordance with Pentagon’s plans, radar will be installed in Czechia to track the missiles and 10 interceptors will be designed in Poland. It will totally cost $3.5bn.
The US intends to start deploying interceptors in Poland early in 2008. The full deployment could be completed by 2013.
Radar near Prague is planned to be commissioned by 2011.
The US intends to install the complex in Czechia which it had used in Marshall Islands before.
Henry Obering also took a stance on Russia’s proposal on joint use of Gabala radar.
“We approach this proposal seriously. But we do not consider that Gabala radar can be an alternative to the complex we want to install in Poland and Czechia. We think that use of Gabala radar, as additional element of the facilities in Europe, is one of the interesting variants,” he said. /APA/
