New secretary general appointed to Association of European Election Officials

New secretary general appointed to the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) at the annual meeting of the General Assembly of the association. Chief of international affairs department of Central Election Commission (CEC) Rovzat Gasimov, who is now in Strasbourg, told APA that representatives from the association member states participated in the annual conference.
Secretary General of the association Zoltan Toth has not been elected to the post. Representative of Romanian election commission will succeed him. Rovzat Gasimov said that organizational issues were also debated and annual financial report was made at the meeting. The next annual meeting of the association will be held in Romania.
Rovzat Gasimov also said that he participated in the conference on professional education of electoral actors.
Forth European Conference on Electoral Management Bodies is being held now. CEC secretary said the two-day conference is organized by the Venice Commission and will focus on fighting against violations of law during elections – procedure of considering the complaints.
Rovzat Gasimov said Azerbaijan was not debated at the events.
Association of European Election Officials was established in 1991. It has 21 full members. Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission has been the member of the association since 2002. /APA/
