62nd UN General Assembly session begins today

The annual general debate which traditionally features statements by dozens of Heads of State and Government and Ministers, will begin on Tuesday September 25. On that day irreconcilable leaders such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad and US President George Bush will make a speech. French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Silva will also make a speech on that day. US government granted visa to M.Ahmedinejad through embassy in Bern. Iranian President M. Ahmedinejad will stay in New York for two days and will be accompanied by high-level officials. A senior State Department official tells the waiver will be granted because of the limited nature of his visit. Ahmadinejad won’t be allowed to travel more than 25 miles beyond U.N. headquarters in New York City.
Azeri delegation to attend the 62nd UN General Assembly session will be led by foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov. Occupation of Azerbaijani territories and “frozen” conflicts will be on the draft agenda. The agenda will be confirmed on September 21. /APA/
