European Parliament Delegation visiting Baku meets group of NGO members

Delegation of European Parliament visiting Azerbaijan met with NGO members, APA reports. Issues, such as transparency of Azerbaijani Parliament, socio-political situation before the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, freedom of speech, imprisoned journalist and etc. were discussed at the meeting. NGO representatives and rights defenders from Azerbaijan asked members of European Parliament to contribute to release imprisoned journalists. Leyla Yunus, Ilgar Mammadov, Mehman Aliyev participated in the meeting. Delegation of European Parliament arrived in Baku on September 10.
The delegation is led by head by Marie Anne Isler, representative of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (France), second vice-president of European parliament, representative of human rights department Bropard Duka Zulomi (Slovakia), Alessandro Battilokkio (Italy) from development sector, Marina Jean Marinescu (Romania) from transport, tourism and climate change, rapporteur on international relations Lidie Polfer (Luxemburg) and Joanna Svoboda (Austria) from international affairs, security and defense department ./APA/
