Azerbaijani Foreign Minister receives deputy executive director of International Energy Agency

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov today received deputy executive director of the International Energy Agency William Ramsay, the ministry’s press center told APA. William Ramsay said energy security has become an important factor in the foreign policy of states and stressed the importance of searching reliable energy resources and political importance of energy issues. He also said that European Union is interested in diversification of energy sources and seeking alternative variants to meet increasing needs for gas resources.
Elmar Mammadyarov spoke about Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Supsa, Baku-Novorossiysk pipelines and said that Azerbaijan has broad opportunities for transporting hydrocarbon resources to the world markets. The Minister also mentioned that energy memorandum was signed between European Commission and Azerbaijan, underlined the country’s chances in playing an important role in Europe’s energy diversification and the importance of Turkey-Greece-Italy gas pipeline and Nabucco projects. /APA/
