“My making speech at the meeting concerning Azerbaijan depends on the agenda of the meeting. I have not familiarized with the agenda,” he said.
Commenting on CE Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg’s meeting with ex-health minister of Azerbaijan Ali Insanov the co-rapporteur welcomed it. But the co-rapporteur said he had not met with Thomas Hammarberg on the eve of his visit in Baku and did not advise him to meet Ali Insanov.
“The Commissioner is aware of our activities,” he said.
Commenting on the difference between the CE Committee of Ministers’ Ago group’s mission and the co-rapporteurs’ mission Andres Herkel said Ago group members are diplomats – permanent representatives of the Council of Europe member states and co-rapporteurs are members of national parliaments. I have met with a number of members of Ago group and consider that the group’s activity has deepened,” he said.
The co-rapporteur noted that he is unaware of the tragedy caused by the collapse of a high-rise building in Baku. /APA/
