PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs wonâ€™t visit Azerbaijan until next session

â€œMy making speech at the meeting concerning Azerbaijan depends on the agenda of the meeting. I have not familiarized with the agenda,â€ he said.
Commenting on CE Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarbergâ€™s meeting with ex-health minister of Azerbaijan Ali Insanov the co-rapporteur welcomed it. But the co-rapporteur said he had not met with Thomas Hammarberg on the eve of his visit in Baku and did not advise him to meet Ali Insanov.
â€œThe Commissioner is aware of our activities,â€ he said.
Commenting on the difference between the CE Committee of Ministersâ€™ Ago groupâ€™s mission and the co-rapporteursâ€™ mission Andres Herkel said Ago group members are diplomats â€“ permanent representatives of the Council of Europe member states and co-rapporteurs are members of national parliaments. I have met with a number of members of Ago group and consider that the groupâ€™s activity has deepened,â€ he said.
The co-rapporteur noted that he is unaware of the tragedy caused by the collapse of a high-rise building in Baku. /APA/
