Ziyafat Asgarov: Gabala radar is no threat for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity

“Gabala radar station is of analytical character and poses no threat for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” first vice-speaker of parliament, chief of the standing commission on security and defense issues Ziyafat Asgarov told APA. Taking a stance on Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Nasir Hamidi Zare’s statement that joint use of Gabala radar station by Russia and the US would be violation of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty Ziyafat Asgarov reminded the agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan on the use of Gabala radar station. The vice-speaker said the agreement is effective by 2012.
“The agreement writes that Daryal radar station is of analytical character,” he said.
Commenting on joint use of the radar station by Russia and the US Ziyafat Asgarov said the parliament in not involved in the debates on this issue. /APA/
