Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg continues meetings in Azerbaijan

Council of Europe (CE) Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg continues his meetings in Azerbaijan, APA reports. The Commissioner met with director of Media Rights Institute Reshid Hajili, head of Reportersâ€™ Freedom and Security Institute Emil Huseynli and correspondent of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Uzeyir Jafarov. At the briefing, Reshid Hajili said that Thomas Hammarberg gathered necessary information about Azerbaijan beforehand.
â€œThe visitor is informed enough about Azerbaijan. We exchanged views on the issues that interest him. Radio and television frequencies and problems in the field of Internet were debated at the meeting,â€ he said.
Media-court conflicts, draft on defamation, causes of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper editor-in-chief Eynulla Fetullayevâ€™s arrest and his health problems were also debated at the meeting. Thomas Hammarberg later met with political scientists Zardusht Alizade, Rasim Musabayov and Hikmat Hajizade. /APA/
