Council of Europe not replied to opposition’s proposals on amendments to Azerbaijani Election Code
He said that they hope that Musavat’s position will be taken into consideration in the negotiations to be carried out regarding the amendments to the Election Code.
“Parity formation of election commissions is not only Musavat’s position, but at the same time it is the position of all the opposition forces as well as Venice Commission,†he said.
Hajili said that if the composition of the commissions is not changed and formation will remain as in present condition, Musavat will not participate in the formation of Central Election Commission.
First deputy chief of Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) Hasrat Rustamov told the APA that CE did not reply to appeal on the amendments in Election Code.
“We regard that the debates will continue and our demands will be taken into consideration,†he said.
CE also did not reply to the appeal of Umid Party. Party’s spokesman Anvar Avaz told the APA though the CE did not reply to their appeal, they hope that the part of their proposals will be taken into consideration.
“There are shortcomings in present law and amendments should be carried out for eliminating it,†he said.
Avaz stressed that the proposals on changing composition of election commissions will not be realized.
Deputy chief of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Hasan Karimov told the APA, Venice Commission did not reply to the appeal of Azadliq alliance.
He said Venice Commission said that the proposals of the alliance will be examined and these proposals will be taken into consideration in negotiations to take place in September with Azerbaijani government. Karimov said that this proposal is due to play great role in the just formation of the commissions. /APA/
