European Court of Human Rights was appealed for the case of leader of political youth movement Yeni Fikir (New Idea) Ruslan Bashirli, press secretary of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Isag Evezoglu told APA that the appeal was sent to the court a few days ago.
Lawyers Osman Kazimov and Isakhan Ashurov prepared the appeal.
Osman Kazimov told APA that the investigation of the criminal case on Ruslan Bashirli was carried out illegally and the court hearing was biased.
The appeal asks to overrule the court’s decision on Ruslan Bashirli. According to the appeal the government has to pay compensation to him. The amount of the compensation is not shown in the appeal, which asks European Court to assess the damage.
Chairman of Yeni Fikir movement Ruslan Bashirli faced charges under article 278 (coup d’état) of the criminal code and was sentenced to 7 years, member of the movement Ramin Tagiyev was sentenced to 5 years in jail. Said Nuri got 3 years suspended sentence. /APA/
