Azerbaijani Foreign Minister receives EU Special Representative

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation headed by Special Representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby, the ministry’s press service told APA. The minister said that integration into Europe and Euro Atlantic structures is one of the priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and undermined that our country is interested in expanding relations with all international organizations, as well as with the European Union.
Elmar Mammadyarov noted that Armenia’s aggressive and ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijan is inadmissible and stressed the necessity of solving the conflict in the framework of international law norms and principles and Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. He said Armenian government should demonstrate political will so that the conflict can soon be solved, refugees and IDPs could return to their native lands and for ensuring security in the region.
Peter Semneby speaking about efficient mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and European Union, welcomed Azerbaijani government’s initiative on organizing seminars for improving proficiency of media representatives. He said that European Union is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan.
They debated on the negotiations for the peaceful resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, energy security in the region and expansion of cooperation in this field. /APA/
