Commenting on the remarks that the US placement of missile defense system aim at securing Europe from possible threats from Iran and North Korea the councilor called these absurd.
“The one who thinks that Iran would attack the US and West is sure to have mental problems. There is no action behind Iranian President’s remark “Israel should be wiped outâ€. Since the US fear any threat from Iran, it would accept Russia’s proposal on joint use of Gabal radar station. Russia is ready to modernize this station. We also offer the US Voronej station under construction. The US, however, says it “does not want to debateâ€. It seems they have other plans, ambitions. The elements of the new missile shield planned to be deployed in the Czech Republic are not directed against only Iran, they see Russia as well. Russia is wholly surrounded by American bases. These bases have been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq as well,†the Russian embassy official underlined.
Mr.Chekunov said the US aims to always keep Russia in tense situation adding that Russia will have to take adequate steps in case the US deploys missile defense system in Poland. /APA/
