Georgian intellectuals visit Tovuz region

About 40 Georgian intellectuals, poets and writers arrived in Tovuz region, chief of Azerbaijan-Georgia Friendship Group Ganira Pashayeva told APA. She said that the intellectuals will visit museums and several events will be held with their participation.
“This is the first cultural event on fraternization of Tovuz and Dmanisi city of Georgia. Officials of Gardabani region will also participate in the events,” she said.
Ganira Pashayeva yesterday returned to Tovuz from three-day visit to Georgia and will again leave for Dmanisi, Georgia on Sunday. The parliamentarian will meet with her colleagues and other officials. Ganira Pashayeva said that she met with intellectuals in Marneuli, Dmanisi and Gardabani.
“We mainly debated on the problems arising out of educational reforms. Georgian Azerbaijanis offered to carry out these reforms through stages. They want Azerbaijan’s support for publishing books on the region’s folklore, repairing Abdulla Shaig’s memorial house and holding Ashug Kamandar’s jubilee,” she said.
Ganira Pashayeva also met with youth organizations. The parliamentarian presented three wheelchairs to a family supported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.
The delegation headed by Ganira Pashayeva yesterday met with head of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship House Giuli Alasania. Governor Zurab Melikashvili also participated in the meeting. They exchanged views on educational problems.
“The governor offered visit of Education Minister Alexander Lomaia to the region and meeting with Azerbaijani intellectuals,” she said. /APA/
