Parliamentarians from Musavat Party held a press conference on the results of their visit to Georgia, APA reports. They said the aim of their visit was to concern themselves with the problems of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia. They had 8 meetings there and witnessed some problems.
The parliamentarians said the main problems are connected with language, education, land reforms, toponymy and unemployment.
Parliamentarian Arzu Samadbayli said that this visit was unofficial and added that they will pay an official visit in autumn.
The parliamentarian said that they witnessed democracy in Georgia.
“No one interfered with our meetings. The villages receive electricity the whole day. There are some problems. Renaming of Azerbaijani regions and villages cause discontent,” he said.
Arzu Samadbayli noted that Georgians not knowing the Azerbaijani language cause problems while appointing directors to schools. He said they will raise these issues vis-à-vis Georgian and Azerbaijani governments.
Parliamentarian Ikram Israfilov said that 157 pupils left school in the village of Sadakhly within a year.
Parliamentarian Panah Huseyn condemned the statements against them. /APA/
