Yashar Aliyev informed the attendees about the US-Azerbaijan cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum projects, Azerbaijan’s role as a transit and energy producing country, importance of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan’s joining the existing projects, the role of the diversification of energy transportation in energy security of Europe, the activity of The State Oil Fund (SOFAZ), recent summit of GUAM, necessity of the revocation of Section 907 for further development of US-Azerbaijan relations. Yashar Aliyev gave information about SOFAZ saying that it was established in 1999 for effective use of energy incomes. Advisor of US Secretary of State and coordinator on international energy issues Greq Manuel, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the South Caucasus and Central Asia Steven Man, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian affairs Matthew Bryza, Deputy Assistant Energy Secretary for international energy policy All Helburg, senior adviser at the Center for Strategic & International Studies Keit Smith, Cambridge University researcher Per Noel and Belarus Ambassador to the US participated in the debates in the Helsinki Commission. /APA/
