Document on Heydar Aliyev Foundation introduced to PACE

The document prepared by member of Azerbaijani delegation Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva â€œRole of NGOs in improving dialogue among civilizations / Heydar Aliyev Foundationâ€ was published and distributed among PACE members, APAâ€™s Europe bureau correspondent reports. Over 50 PACE member states signed the document. The document says that improving dialogue among civilizations and cultures is the most important issue on the agenda of Europe as well as of the world community.
â€œTaking into account the importance of improving dialogue among civilizations and cultures on the agenda of both Europe and the world community, interreligious toleranceâ€™s being integral part of this dialogue, importance of the role of NGOs on national and international levels, Azerbaijanâ€™s ethnic, religious and tolerant traditions as a Muslim country having high national values, the world communityâ€™s approving Azerbaijanâ€™s policy rejecting xenophobia and all forms religious tolerance, underlining the activity and experience of Heydar Aliyev Foundation â€“ the most outstanding NGO in Azerbaijan in improving dialogue among civilizations and cultures state the following:
-holding a lot of international forums and conferences on dialogue among civilizations and cultures;
-assistance to reconstructing Orthodox Church in Baku in the framework of the project â€œAzerbaijan address of dialogue among civilizations and cultures and toleranceâ€;
-construction of Jewish Cultural Complex uniting a Jewish school, one kindergarten, Jewish historical and cultural museum in Baku in the framework of cooperation with Or-Avner International Fund;
-reconstruction of some mosques in Baku in the framework of the project â€œAzerbaijan address of toleranceâ€;
-publication of Georgian textbooks for Georgian schools;
-holding regional educational conference in the framework of cooperation with UNESCO in Baku, 2008;
-restoration of two monuments included in the list of World Cultural Heritage in Versal, France.
We â€“ signatories of this his statement highly greet the activity of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, confirm that its contribution to the dialogue among civilizations and introduce it to international community,â€ the statement says. /APA/
