Turkish President Ahmad Nejdet Sezer in his keynote speech said that the summit will contribute to the expansion of multilateral cooperation in the region. Noting that economic cooperation has become touchstone of stability in the region Turkish President said this factor will have great influence on the establishment of stability.
Azerbaijani president said that our country supports all BSECO projects. He said that frozen conflicts impede the cooperation and development inside the organization.
Russian President Vladimir Putin underlined the necessity of economically proper grounding of the projects in the Black Sea region and financial provision for the implementation of these projects.
Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko said BSECO proved itself within its 15-year activity. He noted that BSECO should extend relations with international organizations in the next stage and elevate the relations with the European Union in all spheres. Victor Yushchenko proposed to establish free economical zones in BSECO. Other state and government heads attending the meeting proposed to expand BSECO activity.
Senior officials, Presidents, Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of 12 founder and 13 observer states attended the summit. Albanian Prime Minister Sali Barisha, Serbian President Boris Tadich, Moldavian President Vladimir Voronin, Bulgarian President Georgi Pirvanov attended BSECO summit.
As Armenian President Robert Kocharyan did not attend the summit, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian represented this country in the summit. Representatives of European Union, UN, World Bank, World Trade Organization, UN Economic Commission for Europe, UN Development Program, UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UNIDO, European Economic Union, International Road Transport Union and International Transport Federation attended the meeting.
