President to set date of election for vacancies in Parliament

Central Election Commission (CEC) has no competence of fixing the date of election for vacancies in the Parliament, CEC secretary Natig Mammadov told the APA.
He stated that Azerbaijani President fixes the date of parliamentary elections as asserted in article 145.1 of Election Code, 2nd part of article 84 of and 1st item of article 109 of the Constitution.
Mr.Mammadov saying that CEC can only fix the date of municipality elections stated that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will fix the date of elections for vacancies in Parliament.
CEC secretary stressed that elections for vacancies in Parliament and presidential elections can not be held at the same time. /APA/
