Khalaf Khalafov: Statement to be adopted at the summit of head of states of Caspian Sea is political document

â€œSome unsettled issue debated by experts was discussed at the level of Ministers, and consensus was reached on some of them. The Ministers made an exchange of views on all aspects of the Caspian Sea legal status as well as international cooperation in Caspian, regional cooperation, international issues on mutual importance. It is decided to inform Presidents on the agreed draft statement changing with views on holding summit and its dateâ€.
Khalaf Khalafov told the journalists the statement of the head of states will be political document. â€œThe clauses of the statement will be of political importance. These are clauses creating political frames and political models. That is why it is not about conventional norms of legal status, it defines political frames of legal status. After this the process of and agreement of convention and concrete legal norms will be continued at the level of working groupsâ€.
Saying that Caspian Sea status issues are debated in bilateral talks Khalaf Khalafov noted Iranian Delegationâ€™s visit to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan delegationâ€™s visit to Ashgabat in the second half of June.
Deputy Minister touching upon Irani-Azerbaijan talks on Baku-Tbilsi- Ceyhan said this does not mean Iranâ€™s joining this pipeline. â€œIran and Azerbaijan will cooperate in energy field. This field attracts much interest. The meetings will beheld to define concrete directions of corresponding bodies. Cooperation issues include oil-gas sector, electricity, installing of station to produce energyâ€.
Deputy Foreign Minister said transportation of central Asia gas recourses via Iran and Azerbaijan creates big opportunities. â€œSuch issues are settled from economical point of view because Azerbaijan strhengthened its position in the region and taking part in the regional projects. We are interested in regional cooperation and we are ready to do it with any country of the region,â€ the deputy minister concluded./APA/
