Ali Hasanov: Imprisoned journalists can be released on National Press Day

There are problems in Azerbaijani media. These problems are not on attacks to press, forcing independent press out. Several press representatives create these problems, Presidentâ€™s Office Socio-Political Department chief Ali Hasanov said, APA reports.
Mr.Hasanov regarding actually carrying out debates for removing problems underlined that media has been politicized at present. He said that every party involves press bodies.
He also did not rule out dialogue between the government and media outlets regarding solution of the media problems.
â€œWe stated for times that state is the guarantee of free expression and free media. While saying guarantee of free expression we mean illegal actions, attacks, pressures against media. The media should learn to work in the framework of law,â€ he said.
The department chief said that imprisoned journalists can possibly be released on the eve of July 22-Press Day.
â€œWe are investigating the situation at present. Imprisoned journalists have been released and pardoned at the initiative of the head of state several times by now. Sometimes the journalists regard pardons their victory. But it is not victory. This is the chance given to a man for coming back to right way,â€ he underscored. /APA/
