Totsky attending the conference on the anniversary of the cooperation agreement between Russia and US five years ago in Rome through teleconference from Brussels underlined that NATO is a huge force, but Russia is not a piece of cake. “We can not ignore NATO’s exceeding its powers. We want to solve differences through a dialogue.”
According to his words, the US exaggerates the security problem of Europe. For the time being there’s no serious external threat to Europe” he added.
“It is not possible that Iran and North Korea will be able to establish missile system beating Europe till 2012. In this case I do not understand the reason for US hurrying to deploy missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic.”
Russian envoy commented on Russian President’s offer to US President Bush on a joint use of existing Qabala radar station in Azerbaijan: “Qabala radar station enables to be aware of the orientation of all missiles launched in the Middle East. The only shortcoming of the radar is the lack of device to strike missiles. And we are eager to eliminate this shortcoming with the help of the US.”. Kotsky underlined that NATO is not a place for solution of global problems, UN has to take care about that.”/APA/
