Roundtable â€œCivil Service Reforms and Good Governanceâ€ to be held

The UNESCO Centre on Human Rights, Democracy and Peace of Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN DPI) will jointly organize a roundtable discussion on the theme â€œCivil service reforms and good governanceâ€. The objective of this joint celebration on the occasion of UN Public Service Day is to highlight the contribution of public service in the Azerbaijani development process. The UN office told the APA.
United Nations Public Service Day, as an international day to commend and to encourage exemplary public service, was celebrated for the first time on 23 June 2003 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The recognition of the importance of public administration has swelled rapidly in the last decade. Various countries that are quite similar in terms of their natural resources and social structures have shown different performances in improving the welfare of their people, and much of this is attributable of standards of governance. /APA/
