NATO defense ministers to discuss radar station in Azerbaijan

The next meeting of NATO defense ministers will be held in Brussels.
The meeting will focus on including the US-planned missile defense bases into the Allianceâ€™s defense potential and also jointly use of Russiaâ€™s Qabala radar system in Azerbaijan.
NATO diplomats said the defense ministersâ€™ support establishing own missile defense system of the alliance. It should be conformed to the US missile defense system, and defend all the alliance member states from long and short range ballistic missile attacks.
John Colston, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy welcomed Russiaâ€™s preferring confrontation rhetoric to cooperation one. According to him, Russian defense minister Anatoli Serdukov today will inform the attendees about Mr.Putinâ€™s proposals in detail. It is early to say that Qabala radar station can be alternative to the US plans on deploying missile shield in Central Europe,â€ told Mr.Colston/APA/
