Vardan Oskanian says document on principles of Karabakha conflict settlement supposes â€œpackage optionâ€

He said Russian President Vladimir Putin stated Russiaâ€™s stance, according to which Russia will agree on any solution that satisfies the conflicting sides and is ready to serve as guarantee of settlement.

â€œProceeding from his global policy, Russia does not want to take a great initiative as supposed by the OSCE Minsk Group mandate. This is the only difference between Russia and the United States, however there are not any differences between those two countries,â€ the Armenian Foreign minister said in the interview to â€œKentronâ€ TV Company.
Oskanian said there is a 3-page document on the negotiation table, which includes all possible principles of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. â€œIt is a rather complicated document, which is the result of 2-year process of talks on the level of foreign ministers and presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan,â€ he stated.
Oskanian thinks it is possible to expect progress during discussions between presidents of two countries. â€œI have certain optimism: this document is logical and compromised. Of course, it does not fully satisfy demands of conflicting sides, but it gives the sides bases to make the document public,â€ Oskanian noted, adding that still there exist issues, which are not agreed yet and the sides will have to settle the most complicated problems.

â€œThe document on principles of settlement supposes â€œpackage optionâ€. A timetable is possible there, but answers to all questions must be given beforehand,â€ Armenian Minister stressed.

Oskanian underlined it is unacceptable to speak about other problems without settling issues concerning the status of Nagorno Karabakh via referendum, a compulsory corridor, which would provide uninterrupted land communication between Karabakh and Armenia and security of â€œKarabakh peopleâ€.
