Forming GUAM peacekeeping contingent on Baku summitâ€™s agenda

The issue on the formation of peacekeeping contingent of GUAM is not expected to be debated in the GUAM summit to be held in Baku, Ukrainian Defense Ministry International Relations Department’s director Ivan Androsenko told the APA.
Androsenko said that Ukraine is ready to continue the works on the project of establishing peacekeeping forces.
â€œThe process is delayed as other countries are not ready yet. Moldova said that it is not ready a month ago,â€ he said.
Androsenko also stated that Ukrainian Defense Minister will negotiate with his counterparts from other countries, including Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev in the framework of the meeting of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers to be held in Moscow after June 20. The issue on the formation of GUAM peacekeeping forces will also be debated.
Novruz Mammadov, head of international relations department of Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s Office told journalists issue on the establishment of GUAM peacekeeping contingent has been included into the agenda of the summit.
â€œBut it is not yet known where these forces will be used. The issue will be included to the agenda after national coordinators debate it,â€ he said. /APA/
