CIS Executive Secreatry to carry on his activity

â€œThe issue regarding the chairman of the CIS Executive Committee was not debated at the CIS informal summit in St. Petersburg,â€ CIS Executive Committee press secretary Sergey Podgorguntski told the APA.
Commenting on expiring of tenure of Executive Secretary Vladimir Rushailo the press secretary said that no changes are expected still.
â€œIf CIS heads of states do not nominate new candidate, the present chairmanâ€™s tenure is automatically prolonged and he continues his activity,â€ he said.
Commenting on electing of executive secretary Podgorguntski said that the candidate is nominated by the person chairing the Heads of State Council.
Kazakhstanâ€™s President Nursultan Nazarbayev is the chairman at present.
Russian media reports that the issue on Executive Secreatry wasto be discussed at the informal summit on June 10. It was not debated as Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko rejected the candidacy of former chief of Russian Central Election Commission Alexander Veshnyakov.
The next meeting of the CIS heads of state is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe in October. /APA/
