Swiss Shalom magazine writes about Azerbaijan

An article about Azerbaijan has been published in Shalom journal in published in Hebrew, German, English, French and Spanish in Switzerland, APA’s Israeli bureau reports.
The article written by editor-in-chief says that visiting Azerbaijan where parliament democracy exists impresses everyone. The editor-in-chief protecting values and community traditions of Jewish Diaspora in the world expressed his satisfaction with his being received by the speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov. Mr. Asadov informed the guest about the condition of Jewish community in Azerbaijan and stated that the development of economic-commercial relations with Israel will give an impetus to the political relations.
He said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and parliamentarians attach importance to freedom of religion of Jewish community and solidarity with Israel. Shalom journal touching on the anti-Semitism problem and Jewish communities’ relations with other religious confessions in Azerbaijan noted that anti-Semitism threat was not serious problem to Jews in Azerbaijan. Unlike other post-soviet Republics, there has never been an active anti-Semitism in Azerbaijan. Head of Community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan Semyon Ikhilov said that they closely follow the developments. He said that they have warm relations with Azerbaijani President and stressed satisfaction with it. As to the relations with other confessions, these relations base on mutual respect and tolerance. /APA/
