YAP to hold conference on media situation in Azerbaijan

Ali Ahmadov said that media is responsible for its hard state.
Present state of the media will be debated at the conference. The executive secretary said that chiefs of all media outlets will be invited to the conference. The deputy chief said that the government creates all conditions for freedom of expression and media.
â€œSome media outlets misrepresent idea of freedom of expression and media. Though some declare their free will, in fact they serve various parties. Therefore, some newspapers operate as political organizationsâ€ he said.
The deputy chief said there is defamation article in Azerbaijani legislation and it can be applied as far as it exists.
â€œSome journalist insult people, claiming that this is their right. Everyone wants to protect his personality and appeals to court. Its alternative is violence. I think that the best way against insult is trial, this is a civil form. If some media outlets offer to eliminate term on insult, they prefer the other variant,â€ he said.
Commenting on journalists seeking asylum Ahmadov said if someone prefers living abroad, he should not slander Azerbaijani government. /APA/
