Azerbaijan’s Republic Day celebrated in Washington

Azerbaijani Embassy to the US organized an official reception on 28 May- Day of Republic of Azerbaijan on May 30. The Embassy told APA representatives of State Department, Defense Ministry, Congress, NGOs, analytic research centers, Azerbaijan Diaspora, foreign diplomats accredited to US, in general 300 guests participated in the meeting.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to US Yashar Aliyev said the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic of 1918-1920 was a democratic and secular state with a parliament, legal system, national currency and other attributes. Yashar Aliye said Azerbaijan after regaining independence in 1991 became democratic state. A decree on celebrating 28 May as Azerbaijan’s National Republic Day in Washington signed by Mayor of Washington D.C Adrian M. Fenty was announced by the official of Mayor’s Office. /APA/
