Head of German Mainz municipality: Baku and Mainz have no agreement on becoming sister cities

The relations between the two cities were established in 1984 and still continue,†head of Mainz municipality Yens Boytel said, APA reports.
He said that Baku has no emblem on the board where sister cities’ emblems are placed in Mainz and added that this emblem will be hung after the relations are officialized.
Chief of Azerbaijani Strategic Investigations Center in Germany Bashar Komur told journalists that fraternization of Mainz and Baku had to be officialized in 1992.
“Negotiations on this issue have become intensive at that time. As Ayaz Mutallibov was in power, Germany refused signing this document because of his non-democratic activities. The issue on fraternization of Baku and Mainz was frozen. We are starting to reheat it,†he said. /APA/
