Russian Foreign Minister: We are not interested in existence of hot spots around Russia

“Independent Russia and independent Azerbaijan established relations in the situation of political and economical instability in the post Soviet territory. Presidents of two states succeeded to create efficient cooperation,” he stressed.
Sergey Lavrov said Russian is one of the leading trade partners of Azerbaijan and projects on electric energy, transport, machine building, nonferrous metallurgy, banking and other fields are to be carried out.
Touching upon international affairs, Sergey Lavrov said his country will not join any confrontation. “We are for equal rights of all states in the global processes”.
Commenting on the issues of deployment of missile defense system in Europe, Russian Minister said Russia calls for leading joint struggle against all kinds of threats. “But we think one sided decision made by US on the deployment of missile defense system in Europe is a risk both for Europe and Russia”.
Russian Foreign Minister touched on the settlement of conflicts too. “Crises and conflicts should be settled through dialogues, method of isolation of countries is not the solution. We are not interested in the existence of hot spots and centers of tension around Russia”.
Sergey Lavrov said he stands for the development of Commonwealth of Independent States on the way that meets modern standards.
After the meeting, Russian Minister visited “Jen Mirontsev” church together with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov. /APA/
