Professor Anvar Konukchu: Presence of local and foreign media representatives in archaeological diggings in the mass burial places is necessary

In the third stage, the relatives and predecessors of the massacred people are interviewedâ€, the professor of the Arzurum University Anvar Konukchu, who struggles against so called â€œArmenian genocideâ€ exclusively told APAâ€™s Turkey bureau. He said the historical massacres are always recorded in archives. â€œThen massacre related documents are researched. After consideration of assembled facts and paper evidences by the Scientific Council, the decision on archeological diggings is made. The participation of archaeologists and media members are necessary for diggings. Archaeologists and specialists of ancient works should engage in the research works. After diggings finished and laboratory analyses are completed, the results may be publicized. Before diggings the soil of the mass graves should be looked through. If the ground is sharp, bog or damp it is always difficult to withdraw the skeletons. The skeletons should be withdrawn after some time but not immediately. When the ground becomes dry the skeletons may be withdrawn,â€ the professor said.
Anvar Konukchu said the skeletons withdrawn from mass burial places always have the signs of massacres. â€œIf the people killed with bullet, bayonet or sword the skeletons always keep the signs. The anthropological analyze of skeletons is very important too. Turkish houses have a special support. If the support of the house destructed it sinks. If the genocide committed in the house the support of the house is cut and the ceiling fall on people. Then the lands cover the dead bodies. It is considered mass burial place. We have discovered such mass burial place in July 4, 1993 in Arzurumâ€™s Pasin village. My friend scientist Vilayat Guliyev also participated in the diggings.
