European stocks post rise

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-ECONOMICS. US Sharemarkets were closed for the President’s Day public holiday. On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 45.05, or 0.4 per cent, to 10,099.14. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index dropped 2.96, or 0.3 per cent, to 1,075.51, while the Nasdaq composite index rose 6.12, or 0.3 per cent, to 2,183.53, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
European stock exchanges inched ahead on Monday in cautious trading as eurozone ministers held talks that investors hope will yield concrete measures to help Greece overcome its financial crisis.
In Brussels, pressure was mounting on Greece to take tougher action to slash its debt and public deficit, with Athens responding by insisting that Europe spell out what it will offer in the way of an eventual bailout.
The London FTSE 100 index gained 25.02 points, or 0.49 per cent, to close at 5,167.47.
FRANKFURT - The DAX 30 gained 10.71 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 5,511.1.
PARIS - The CAC 40 rose 10.15 points, or 0.28 per cent, to 3,609.22.
