An attempt to smuggle hundreds of mines from Syria to Lebanon has been foiled, APA reports, citing Al Arabiya.
One of the smugglers was killed by Syrian security forces and four others were arrested.
According to the information, the neutralized group tried to smuggle the mines to Lebanon to transfer them to Hezbollah.
The security director of the Yabrud region of Syria, which is close to the Lebanese border, said that 1,250 mines were seized by Syrian security forces.
Note that during the rule of former President Bashar al-Assad, Syria played the role of a main corridor for the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah.
